Primary Input
The primary power input accepts 24-28VDC. This input is intended to be connected to the primary power source, such as the included AC/DC power supply.
The camera will power on immediately once power is applied to the primary power input, without the need to depress the power button.
Users can safely power off the device by either removing the power supply connector completely or depressing the power button for 5 seconds. The camera can powered on again using the power button as long as the power source has not been disconnected from the camera.
This is the preferred input for most applications, but especially in situations where the camera is remotely positioned. This allows the operator to power the camera on or off from a distance, when access to the power button is difficult or not practical.
Backup Input
The backup power input also accepts 24-28VDC. If desired, this input can be connected to a backup power source. In the event of a power loss on the primary input, the backup input will immediately take over as a redundant source of power. This protects against the potential loss of image data within the camera's volatile RAM buffer.
If only the backup input is connected to a power source, the camera will NOT power on immediately once power is applied. The power button must be depressed to power on the camera. If this behavior is desired, the backup input can be used as a stand-alone power source.
The power LEDs will display green to indicate when power is applied to each input. Power is always drawn from the primary input first, even if a higher voltage is present on the backup input. Only if power is lost on the primary input, that is it falls below the threshold voltage, will the camera immediately draw power from the backup. Once power is restored to the primary input, the E9 will resume power consumption from there.
For applications which require reduncancy, it is advisable to connect the primary input to the AC/DC power supply, and to apply an alternative power source, such as a DC battery, to the backup input.
Battery Operation
Although Pharsighted recommends a maximum of 28VDC for mains-powered operation, 24VDC batteries that reach a maximum charge up to 33.6VDC can be safely used. It can be expected that E9 cameras will power off once the battery voltage is drawn down to about 20VDC.
The included DC power adapter cable may be used to connect to batteries with XLR output connectors. Users may also choose to contruct their own adapter cable using the part info and pinout diagram found in the I/O section.
Equipment
Power Supply

Each E9 camera includes an AC/DC power supply. The specifications of the included power supply vary depending on camera model.
| Camera Model | AC Input | DC Output | Power Draw without SSD | Power Draw with SSD |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| E9-50S | 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz | 24VDC, 280W | up to 135W | up to 165W |
| E9-80S | 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz | 24VDC, 280W | up to 200W | up to 230W |
| E9-100S | 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz | 24VDC, 280W | up to 200W | up to 230W |
| E9-150S | 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz | TBD | up to TBD | up to TBD |
All supplies require a standard AC cable with an IEC C13 type connector capable of handling at least 15 Amps (14AWG, stranded). A US version of this cable is included. The DC output connector of the power supply is a 3-pin XLR type connector, wired in the standard cinema camera configuration.

Power Adapter Cable

The DC power adapter cable, 2 meters in length, has a 3-pin XLR on the input end, and a 3-pin LEMO on the output (camera) end of the cable. This cable is REQUIRED to connect both the power supply and camera together.
Due to its common XLR pin-out, the adapter cable can also be used to provide power from 24VDC type batteries found in the cinema industry.
