Shutter
The active mechanical shutter is itended for black referencing and protecting the sensor and can open or close in < 1s.
The shutter can be controlled using the 'Shutter Button' within the Lens & Shutter control pane of the SLOW software.
Do not attempt to physically restrict the movement of the shutter in anyway
Maintenance
Keeping the image sensor's cover glass clean can be critical to obtaining and processing the most accurate data from your images. This section explains how to safely inspect and clean your camera's sensor.
Recommended Tools
- LED flashlight
- Bulb blower
- Optical Cleaning solution (alcohol and ammonia free)
- 24mm sensor cleaning swab
- T20 star driver (20in/lbs OR 0.002312 N-m torque)
Consider using a bulb blower that contains filters in the nozzle and rear exhaust port to avoid blowing additonal debris back onto the sensor.
Procedure
-
First, remove the lens mount from the camera.
-
Next, inspect the sensor’s cover glass using the LED light.
-
Check at various angles to illuminate any debris or stains.
-
If debris is found, first use the filtered bulb blower to blow away any debris.
-
Re-inspect using the LED light to determine if any debris is still left that was not removed with the blower.
Still dirty? For more stubborn debris, the sticky pen and pad can be used.
-
Remove the sticky pad from the kit and pull off the top layer to expose the first sticky pad.
-
Remove the plastic shroud from the sticky pen.
-
Gently press the sticky pen against any debris and pull back taking care not to wipe the debris against the glass, but rather pull back at a 90° angle.
-
Press the sticky pen against the sticky pen to remove the debris that was moved to the pen.
-
Repeat the last two steps until you can no longer see any more debris.
Still dirty? To clean any stains from the glass, the optical solution and swab can be used.
dangerAttempting to swab the sensor before removing debris can result in scratching the glass if the debris is hard enough.
-
Remove the plastic wrapping from the swab and apply two drops of cleaning solution, one drop at each end.
-
Position the swap flush against the left or right edge sensor glass as shown and wipe towards the other edge.
-
Re-inspect using the LED and repeat the last two steps as needed.
