EF Mount

Mounting

  1. Remove the camera body cap by turning counterclockwise.
  2. Remove the rear lens cap by turning counterclockwise.
  3. Align both marks on the lens and body to each other, then insert.
  4. Turn clockwise until the release pin engages and stop is reached.
caution

Always support large / heavy lenses independently from the camera. Follow the lens manufacturers’ guidelines.

note

Optionally close the shutter before removing the body cap or lens to protect the sensor.

Unmounting

  1. Push release pin in and turn counterclockwise until lens releases.
  2. Replace the rear lens cap by turning clockwise.
  3. Replace the camera body cap by turning clockwise.

Hot-Swap

EF lenses are hot-swappable and will be automatically initialized after mounting is completed. The status of the lens can be monitored via SLOW.

Canon EF Lenses

Coverage

EF lenses are designed to be full-frame.

caution

Do not confuse EF-S or EF-M type lenses with standard EF. EF-S & EF-M are designed for APS-C.

Factory Tested Lenses

Any Canon EF or third-party EF lens can be used. There are hundreds of EF lenses, but a common subset of them have been factory tested with good functionality.

When using a Canon EF Extender, first attach the extender to the lens, then attach it to the camera. To detach it, follow the same procedure in reverse.
