Depth of Field, Time Resolved PIV of Bubble Stream
Particle Image Velocimetry is a quantitative non-invasive method used to analyze Full-field flow velocities, spatially over a thin sheet of the volume. Time-Resolved, Depth-of-Field PIV utilizes the depth-of-field principle to define the flow volume based on sharpness thresholds. A cross correlation algorithm is used to determine displacement vectors for a subset region.
Bubble dynamics are a key area of research in understanding underwater acoustics, heat transfer and mass transfer. Application of the research ranges from medical device development to materials damage in hydro engineering to detection for security purposes.
